WHAT IS THE MAIN GOAL OF THE PROJECT?

Our main goal is to orient young people in a complicated reality of new media, disinformation, misinformation and propaganda

Give young people necessary knowledge about information flows and news

Give them a more profound understanding of new media. Explain that new media not only exist to share private photos, videos and memes, but it is a powerful tool in terms of information and communication - but it is essential to know how to use it, as anyone can become a content creator.

Provide them with a comparison of different news platforms, peculiarities of news presentation on each of those platforms, social networks.

Provide them with a knowledge on information verification techniques.

Introduce them to service-learning methodology, to get them actively participate in the life of the society by using knowledge provided to them on practice by creating a news media and filling it with content within a certain period of time.

Promoting active citizenship, young people’s sense of initiative and youth entrepreneurship including social entrepreneurship

Develop young people's interest in the current events, their need to keep the track of news and participate in sharing true news.

Free media is an essential part of democratic life, and our SPECIFIC priority is to get the youngsters participate in the democratic life by consuming and producing informational content responsibly. Also, it is a sign of active citizenship!

TARGET GROUPS

TO WHOM WE ARE ADDRESSING

Facilitators

As we are going to employ the methodology of service-learning, we need the facilitators working with young people to be fully aware of this methodology, the order of its employment. The facilitators are mainly the professors at the education centre where those young people study (could be high school, professional college, etc.). We will give them a course on service- learning before applying it with youngsters.

Young people

We are going to work with various groups of young people, predominantly high school students. Among them there will also be profiles with lower opportunities, such as immigrants and those coming from families with socioeconomic difficulties.

In the result of our intervention, we expect young people to be more responsible users of new media but also to consume information responsibly and analytically, moreover, be responsible content creators. How? Through theoretical input and lots of practice in the project framework when creating and developing their own media, filling it with content etc.
